Jeffrey Andrews – The Drawing Is Not the Object
Resident artist Jeffrey Andrews’ work explores ordinary domestic objects and the relationship between three-dimensional forms, drawing and their final two-dimensional representation.
Inspired by childhood rubbings of coins and keys, Jeffrey wraps familiar objects including toasters, violins and vacuum cleaners in linen before rubbing them with oil pastel or graphite to reveal the textures and forms beneath the surface. The resulting works raise questions around illusion, reproduction and realism.
