Olena Baranova – Feelings of the Second Sort
Feelings of the Second Sort is an exhibition by Ukrainian artist Olena Baranova, whose delicate paper sculptures explore quiet, often overlooked emotional states.
Using paper as both material and metaphor, Baranova creates minimal, contemplative works that reflect the traces left by our emotions. The exhibition’s title comes from a layered Ukrainian term with no direct English equivalent, referring both to feelings of being overlooked and to everyday materials considered disposable.
As Olena returns to Ukraine, she has entrusted these fragile sculptures to Dean Clough, where they will remain on display. We are honoured to care for and share this thoughtful collection with visitors.
