The Lost Workers (Permanent Exhibition)

The ‘Lost Workers’ was originally an installation created by the renowned French artist Christian Boltanksi as part of a 1994 exhibition at the Henry Moore Studio in Dean Clough’s E Mill and contains items once belonging to workers at Crossley Carpets. The contests have now been re-housed in box files for the public to see.

Also in the Lost Workers room are prints by artist Ross Furness (produced as part of an ‘Artist in Industry’ residency scheme at Crossley Carpets), an original Dobby Loom, an early draughtsman’s desk from the design office of Crossley Carpets and an example of one of the most commercially successful carpets ever produced.
