Summer Exhibition 2021: Out of Boxes

Students get ‘out of their boxes’ at last……

You are invited to gently celebrate the easing of lockdown by visiting this hard-won exhibition of work produced over the last 18 months by students in Calderdale College’s BA Art and Design, Foundation Degree and Access Diploma courses. It is open 7 days a week from 9am – 5pm.

We figured the honour of the first ‘post lockdown’ show should go to the students on Calderdale College’s various FE and HE Art and Design courses. No-one’s had it easy over the last year but anyone in education has had to forego the (obviously deplorable) joys of mingling and carousing that normally compensate for the obligatory lectures and workshops…

Instead students have been stuck in boxes: be it bedrooms, isolated cubicles or the chessboard screens of ‘Zoom’ or ‘Microsoft Teams’.

So the title of the show – ‘Out of Boxes’ – speaks for itself. The range and quality of the displays are testament to the resilience of both the students and the teaching staff and we’re delighted to be able to exhibit them.

There is no ‘formal’ opening so come by whenever it suits you between 9 and 5pm. Remember that parking is free at weekends. Most of the cafes, bars and restaurants at Dean Clough are no open. Remember to bring your mask and exercise common sense about social distancing.

The event is finished.
