Doug Binder: Painter in Residence
Doug Binder (b. Bradford 1941) studied at Bradford School of Art and subsequently the RCA in London (1957 – 61). For a few short years in the 60’s, he achieved international recognition for a long-since abandoned cartoon-style of work and for his involvement in the ‘underground design group’ Binder, Edwards and Vaughn.
Over the years, Doug’s main preoccupation has been working in the life room. However, due to illness and the pandemic, there are times where he resorted to working from paintings by Rembrandt and other major artists, using the books in Dean Clough’s art library as a reference. The results of both decorate the walls of the corridor.
