Music

The Crossley Gallery has become recognised as one of the key jazz venues in the region where the emphasis is on a warm appreciation of the music. Dean Clough’s hand-built Fazioli piano has thrilled to the likes of Jessica Williams, Stan Tracey, Fred Hersch, Jason Rebello, Django Bates and Matthew Bourne. Other international and leading national artistes have included Norma Winstone, Kenny Wheeler, Guy Barker, Bobby Wellins, Martin Taylor, Stan Sulzmann, Gerard Presencer and Tina May.

The Viaduct Theatre features an occasional series of concerts by The North of England Concert Orchestra; while the more intimate acoustic of the Crossley Gallery has attracted international artistes such as Marat Bisengaliev, Vanya Milanova, Ravi Shanker and Matthew Barley. Pianists have included Katia Labeque, Angela Brownridge and Dean Clough’s own Chairman, Sir Ernest Hall.
